SEHC
Software Engineering in Health Care
CFP 'SEHS 2016' - extended to January 29, 2016
About SEHC
Healthcare Informatics is one of the fastest growing economic sectors in the world today. With
the anticipated future advances and investments in this field, it is expected that Healthcare
Informatics will become one of the dominate economic factors in the 21st century. In addition
to economic importance, this field has the potential to make substantial contributions to the
comfort and longevity of every human being on the face of the earth. Software, and thus Software
Engineering, has an important role to play in all of this. Implantable devices, electronic
records, robotic-driven surgery are just some examples where software plays a critical role.
In addition, medical processes are known to be error prone and prime targets for process
improvement technology. Moreover, there are important questions about software quality,
user interfaces, systems interoperability, process automation, and many other concerns familiar
to software engineering practitioners and researchers.
For these reasons the Software Engineering in Health Care (SEHC) workshop
was associated with the International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE) in 2008 as
a separate track and in 2009 as an ICSE Workshop. Plans are underway to hold it as an ICSE
Workshop again in May 2010 in Cape Town, South Africa. SEHC invites very broad participation
from people who are actively engaged in identifying key research and technological issues
associated with healthcare informatics, including those who are doing so through actual practice
of healthcare and those who are developing prototypes and solutions aimed at dealing
with these issues. The two-day workshop will consist of paper presentations, panel-led discussions,
and invited speakers. More information about SEHC 2010 will be available in the fall of 2009.
This website is intended as a meeting point ∗for everyone interested in software engineering in
health care,∗ not only workshop participants. There are many groups working on related issues
- ∗in∗ ∗Computer Science as well as in Medical Informatics∗.
We plan to collect relevant information broadly as possible and to support information exchange among
these groups through the mailing list.
As the community interested in SEHC issues is very broad, we think this kind of information
exchange between different groups is essential to establish and foster SEHC.
Mailing List:
SEHC provides a mailing list accessible at
https://listserv.uni-heidelberg.de/cgi-bin/wa?A0=SEHC.
This list is intended for everyone interested in software engineering health care. We would like
to encourage all mailinglist participants to distribute interesting links, meetings (e.g.
conferences and workshops), research and collaboration opportunities over the list. We will collect
the information also on the website if appropriate.
SEHC WIKI:
SEHC provides a WIKI accessible at https://xserve.cs.uvic.ca/wiki/projects/sehcwiki/SEHC_Wiki.html. The purpose of this Wiki is
to engage the SEHC community in jointly authoring a report describing the distinct Software Engineering Challenges
in Health Care and the progress we (as a community) have achieved over the last few years. We would like to encourage
ALL persons interested in Software Engineering in healthcare to contribute.
